Essential workers getting an extra $600 a week.
澳门皇冠手机网站People who are essential workers are not getting compensated like they should. The stimulus package that was just passed is giving people on unemployment an extra $600 a week. That puts them making more than a lot of front line healthcare workers. All essential workers should be getting that extra $600 a week. They are the ones risking their life and their families life to serve the public during this time. The people on unemployment should be making their normal wage. What is making healthcare workers want to work at this point? They could make more money staying home drawing unemployment all while keeping themselves and their families safe. Did you know some healthcare workers are getting paid less to do jobs that deal directly with covid patients? Let's make a change and get the essential workers the compensation they deserve! They deserve the extra $600 a week. It is a very scary time and those risking their life should be appreciated.

Help CalFire Firefighters RESIST CUT TO WAGES
澳门皇冠手机网站I am a CalFire wife hoping to prevent a drastic pay cut for all CalFire employees by our Governor at the very start of fire season. Morale is already so low. This is really bad timing. Please read the press release below from Tim Edwards, president of the union representing state firefighters and maybe we can prevent this mistake before it affects our first responders abilities to do their jobs and protect our state from burning to the ground. Most recent info: The Governor is asking that CAL FIRE firefighters – who were just given increased firefighter staffing to bring fire engines to an appropriate level and limit the practice of keeping firefighters on the line for weeks, and even months, at a time – give up a 2.5% raise they negotiated through bargaining and also take an additional ten percent cut in pay. This means a 12.5% pay cut for our firefighters. “CAL FIRE is already the lowest paid among the major fire departments,” said Edwards. Consider the facts: - CAL FIRE firefighters are among the lowest paid firefighters in the state. We have become a training ground for higher paying local fire departments.- 10% pay cut for firefighters would put our entry level firefighters under minimum wage.- A 10% pay cut would create compaction within the ranks. This means supervisors would be paid less than those who they supervise.- CAL FIRE firefighters work a 72-hour work week compared to a 56-hour work week for local government fire departments. CAL FIRE already has a retention problem because a veteran CAL FIRE firefighter can start over with a local department and make more money at a lower rank for fewer hours of work.- This 10% cut in pay will result in an inevitable exodus of qualified supervisors from the department. It makes better financial sense for them and their family if the firefighter retires.- Our firefighters have been on the front line, responding to COVID-19 medical emergencies and more than 500,000 calls each year for assistance. The proposed 10% cut is frustrating and demoralizing.- Almost fifty percent of our salaries are paid by the more than 100+ city and county contracts where we provide full service medical and fire protection. Whatever perceived savings this 10% cut will net will be negated by reductions in their payments to the state, resulting in limited savings. Please help our HEROS keep their hard earned money and contracted raises.
Petition to the Association of Social Work Board (ASWB),
Grandfathered US in, to meet the demands for the current need of Social Workers.
This petition is asking that the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), consider the pandemic as a catastrophic event this is not about avoiding getting sick, this is about stabilizing the minds of millions who has been impacted by the pandemic. Due to the current state of emergency the ASWB should allow or put in place the grandfather clause to address the growing demand of Social Worker's, who has met the following requirements: 100 hours of Supervision, 36 months field experience and 3,000 contact hours before the pandemic and for anyone who has taken the LMSW passed or failed at least once, that also should include other mental health practitioners in the field. The urgency is relevant and the need is real. This will reduce the backlog for testing sites, as the need for MSW, LMSW and LCSW’s will grow expeditiously in the next few months or years to come. As the bar and doctors are graduating early and the bar is possibly moving forward towards a unique licensing option, why not consider this for MSW’s and LMSW’s. As our communities, children and families are experiencing an insurmountable and overwhelming amount of loss not just businesses but, love ones, the thought of being isolated from their love ones and bargaining with the idea of, “is this real?” We are walking and working our client’s, ourselves and our families through catastrophic grief, “this is very real.” Social distancing is becoming more isolative because the businesses that once provided comfort to others are closing and causing people who live alone to feel more lonely. Once the air is clear agoraphobia and other related anxieties will form, a sense of fear of others, fear of going outside and it may trigger violence out of fear. This does not include individual’s with a previous diagnosis this will include even us as mental health professionals and other health care professionals. The grief is real and relevant and we will need to be there to help our communities recover and or at lease feel a sense of normalcy again. Please consider to expand the need to MSW's and LMSW's, throughout all states who are being impacted. We are asking the ASWB to respond to the petition with 45 calendar days. Peace, love and light to all stay safe!

Enough Playing Doctor!!! WE the people DEMAND Cuomo lift Hydroxychloroquine restriction!
Under what authority does a Governor play doctor? What does Governor Cuomo hope to accomplish by restricting hydroxychloroquine as potential treatment for COVID-19? How many weeks of encouraging data must we compile to demonstrate this treatment is promising? How many medical experts have to refute Cuomo's restriction, prescribe unconventionally and implore our President to use Executive Authority to restore access to this FDA approved (albeit, for other conditions) medication??? "The Food and Drug Administration, which has approved hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for malaria and lupus, issued an emergency order late last month allowing doctors to administer it to coronavirus patients if they saw fit." - NY Times, 4/6/2020 Where does Cuomo derive the power to limit how our doctors legally treat us? WHOSE MEDICAL OPINION SUPPORTS CUOMO'S CONTINUED RESTRICTION ON HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE?????? Regardless what Cuomo's agenda is, statistics, examples of success, valid studies and common sense is mounting that overwhelmingly justifies our accessibility to hydroxychloroquine/azithromycin. Who is Cuomo to block us??? How many people have to require the ventilators he clamored for (unnecessarily) before the treatment is available to us BEFORE we are critically ill and hospitalized? Are we dismissing that he really may be that inept because of how ludicrous it all appears on the surface??? Cuomo's handling of this crisis is a debacle. He has relied on the Fed to come to his rescue and neglected his responsibility to serve and protect us. His repeated judgments, blatant politicizing and panicked reactions are nothing short of malfeasance. How can we effectively assess the efficacy of any medicine if we limit its application to those with most severe symptoms and in most critical condition? NO ONE needs a medical degree to understand that!!! Cuomo's restriction of treatment has resulted in countless more infections that undoubtedly would have been contained if more people were treating less severe symptoms at home with less shedding and faster recoveries. The number of cases coming from our nation's epicenter absolutely extrapolated tragic results across the nation. The blood of our countrymen is on the hands of Cuomo and EVERY governor that played doctor who wasn't one. Cuomo is not fit to govern and his decisions have cost the NATION undeterminable lives. Is this not America? Shouldn't our doctors decide what our treatments should be? Impeach Cuomo and all governors complicit in this horrible agenda that has only perpetuated this plague. It is not a matter of politics. When someone's judgment is this poor, it is a clear matter of life or death. Regardless whether it was ignorance, politicizing or pure bad judgment, it does not matter. Enough is enough! You are not fit to govern if you cannot see what best serves those you are sworn to protect and serve. I love my countrymen. I love you all!!! Elect WHATEVER party your beliefs hold you to, but do NOT let incompetence further harm your brethren. THIS is OUR STATE, our COUNTRY!!! United we stand, divided we fall is never so validated as when we fall upon being dividing (AND WE ARE FALLING)! Cuomo is NOT one of us. He does NOT work, live or walk among us. He is a globalist and an elitist. We have to stick together!!!
Petition to Dräger , Ventilator manufacturers
Remove barriers to fixing ventilators
We are confronting a hard reality: U.S. hospitals do not have enough ventilators to meet the spike in respiratory failure that the novel coronavirus is projected to create. As ventilators are pressed into round-the-clock use, repair and maintenance issues will increase. While some ventilator manufacturers provide the service information that biomedical technicians need, other manufacturers make it hard to access manuals, read error logs or run diagnostic tests. We need to remove those barriers now. Add your name: Manufacturers must release the service information hospitals need to fix and maintain our vitally important ventilators. Hospitals in the United States don’t possess enough ventilators to meet the demand that COVID-19 is expected to create -- a reality that could have dire consequences for patients who will need these devices to breathe. As global demand for ventilators spikes, as manufacturers face heavy backlogs, and as factories are compelled to stop selling internationally, it will be nearly impossible to get enough ventilators into U.S. hospitals in time to meet the onslaught of critical cases. We’ll need to press older models into service that hospitals keep in store for emergency purposes. There are nearly 100,000 older ventilators around the United States -- but some will need repairs and maintenance, and that will require access to service information. Join us in calling on manufacturers to release the vital service information hospitals need to service and maintain all viable ventilators in the United States. Medical device manufacturers and trade associations actively lobby against Right to Repair reforms, which would mandate access to repair information and service software. While some manufacturers provide access to what technicians need, others do not provide full access to service information for their ventilators. On one independent online repository for ventilator service information, the message "Download prohibited by Dräger. Support is not desired" appears next to the deactivated links to service manuals, instructions and technical documentation for Dräger ventilators. Qualified repair technicians need access to manuals and other critical information to keep hospitals’ emergency ventilators up and running. Manufacturers claim that repairs done by independent technicians are not as safe or reliable as those done by the manufacturers’ technicians. The data says otherwise. An extensive 2018 study conducted by the Food and Drug Administration investigating repair and maintenance issues found that independent technicians, hospital technicians and manufacturers all “provide high quality, safe and effective servicing of medical devices.” Qualified hospital and independent technicians must have access to the proper information during this public health crisis. Tell ventilator manufacturers to free up service information, including repair manuals. Thank you, U.S. PIRG 1. MASS TESTING for Covid before any orders for social distancing are relaxed!
Experts are unanimously and universally recommending MASS TESTING of the population for the COVID 19 virus as a prerequisite to "restarting" the economy or relaxing social distancing orders. The US is testing at a rate of less than 3.2 per thousand, in eleventh place among industrial nations. This is unacceptable, as mass testing is the only way to isolate the COVID 19 virus in our communities and slow its spread considerably. Social distancing alone, without testing, is just a momentary pause (at considerable expense both socially and economically); but premature loosening measures will be counterproductive, and will only result in further harm to the population and economy. The people demand that our local, state and federal leaders commence a massive project (with the help of private industry and capital) for universal testing across the country before any relaxation of standards are considered. Time is of the essence. The people are living in a state of permanent anxiety and it doesn't help when we see the lack of coordination across the spectrum to tackle this severe health crisis. People are dying and suffering unnecessarily while we spend valuable time bickering about the details. There will be time for that AFTER we defeat this pandemic. The urgent and most consequential action to be taken right now is MASS TESTING - let's get it done!
Petition to Andrew M. Cuomo, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Phil Murphy
Safeguard the Right of All Laboring People to Have Support During COVID-19 Crisis
On March 21, the NYS Department of Health issued clear guidelines on treating patients in labor during the COVID-19 crisis. These guidelines determined a support person, whether a spouse, partner or other chosen person, is essential to care for the patient during labor, delivery and in the postpartum period. The World Health Organization (WHO) agrees. We agree. As of March 26, all New York Presbyterian and Mount Sinai affiliated hospitals, and Staten Island University Hospital in the New York City area will act against WHO, CDC and DOH guidance and ban all support people--including spouses--from Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units. This means people in labor will give birth alone and parent alone. Parents will miss the birth of their child. Fundamentally, risks for the people laboring alone will increase substantially. Not only can partners and spouses provide physical and emotional comfort during labor and postpartum, they are also essential in alerting staff when something has gone wrong and the laboring patient cannot notify nurses themselves, like in the event of an eclamptic seizure or a fainting episode. Timing is critical in these cases and monitors can be unreliable. We cannot expect nursing staff, already spread thin, to spend the limitless hours needed with each patient to ensure their health and their baby's health, to provide physical assistance and emotional support. We know the hospital system is overwhelmed in this crisis. However, the burden will only be increased by banning support people from Labor & Delivery. We must ensure no one gives birth alone. We must ensure the maternal mortality rate does not increase during this time.
